Report: Toxic herbicide found in many Texans’ drinking water

Seasonal spikes of atrazine, the key ingredient in weed killers such as Round-Up, appear to be contaminating the drinking water of millions of Americans at potentially hazardous levels as run-off from agricultural areas finds its way into source waters and reservoirs. The Environmental Working Group study also found that utilities are testing water during times when the herbicide isn’t being used as much — and that the utilities may be lowballing the results.
